Our Growing Garden

This spring students have been working in the garden. We began on Earth day with cleaning out the beds and weeding around the schools. Since then each grade has planted some plants and are busy tending them.

Pre-k : Fruits and Vegetables - strawberries, radishes, etc
Kindergarten: above ground/underground - potatoes, sunflowers
1st grade: sensory garden - plants that will be fun to smell, see, taste, feel, or hear.
2nd grade: Tea and Sound garden - Herbs that can be made into tea...mint, chamomile, etc.
Check out pictures from our tea party - June 2015
3rd grade: salsa garden - jalapeƱos, tomatoes, cilantro
4th grade: NC Crops - tobacco, soybeans, sweet potatoes, corn, etc
5th grade: measurement garden - They are using square foot plots to grow basil. They will take measurements and use them in making their line plots.
